Dennis Fritzinger – Interdependence Day

the mycorrhizal fungi
growing on my roots
increase my mineral intake–
now i can raise more fruits.

so let’s hear it for interdependence–
‘cuz that is Nature’s way–
and celebrate together
this Interdependence Day.

my name is the remora–
i guide the shark at sea,
i help it find its dinner,
which is also good for me.

so let’s hear it for interdependence–
‘cuz that is Nature’s way–
and celebrate together
this Interdependence Day.

i’m the squirrel that plants the acorn
that grows into an oak–
if Nature is a wheel, then
together we’re a spoke.

so let’s hear it for interdependence–
‘cuz that is Nature’s way–
and celebrate together
this Interdependence Day.

the predator needs the prey
to keep its tummy full;
and the prey needs the predator
so its senses won’t get dull.

so let’s hear it for interdependence–
‘cuz that is Nature’s way–
and celebrate together
this Interdependence Day.
