BS – A Long Way From Home
I’ve heard the stories
about the tall trees
blue skies
and flocks of birds that could blot out the sun
I’ve read about 100 million bison
moving through waist high prairie
keeping company with Grizzly
I’ve seen the stuffed feathers of the Great Auk
and the stretched fur of the last Adirondack wolf
I think about them often under the city lights
and I feel a long way from home
