Laurelf – Fingers and Rock

Fingers
and rock
that dance
secret, sacred
“sheer naked contact”
the smell of granite and effort
the poetry of each finger hold
and quartz nub
for the toe
mica flecks
sun dizzy dance
between the hands
grasping
caressing
and the ritual
each foot and hand moving
alternately
chalks in
every few yards
and the brightly colored cord
& webbing
fantasy snake of the rock
sun on the back
breeze in hair
all muscles taut
spread eagle
hugging granite
into the Center.
